Like some guy who's stuck in a war that ended 30 years ago?

It occurred to me that Kerry and his most ardent supporters seem to be acting out of a desire to relive their youth of 1960s and early '70s. That was the defining period in their lives - acid trips, three-day concerts in the rain and mud, "free love", violent protests, opposition to any kind of authority at all however benign - in other words, unrestrained self-indulgence. Since "the day", this middle-years of the baby boom generation has risen to the top of the news media and has taken control of most college campuses. They make up the core of the Demo base and still have little or no self-control. But with the press, popular media and the campuses they tried to take by force 30-35 years ago - three institutions with immense power to mold public opinion - now firmly under their control, they still can't get the majority of the American people to hand then the reigns of governmental power. This must be incredibly frustrating to them, given how brilliant and how "right" they know themselves to be. They will stop at nothing and their tactics will only get worse as they get more and more desperate for power.

A bit of an overstatement? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not.
