Richard,

The use of a second drive is a good idea but does not offer the backup protection of a removable media setup. A major electrical hit could wipe out both drives even with a surge protector. I would only use it for data that could be replaced but which would be more convient from the second drive. For example, I would not use it for backing up trading file records or other tax related information that may be very difficult to reconstruct or replace or my scans and templates, etc. Those files should go to removable media or external devices that are disconnected from the computer and power source after backup is complete.

Just a point to ponder.
