One is backed by few people and by limited fragmentary "evidence" which is again only the statements of a few people. The other is backed by a greater number of people who were at the scene. Neither account is convincing enough to strike a knockout blow to the other. Educated guesses may lead someone to favor one account over the other but those guesses are subject to bias and they can reasonably go in either direction.

I think I've been round and round about this enough. I may stop posting on this particular line of argument, as at the moment it seems pointless. I think I have said all that I have to say (not on the general subject but on this particular thread of it) but I reserve the right to change my mind.
