Hi Steve,

Kerry is clearly hedging his bets because he doesn't have the same kind of on-the-ground military intelligence that Bush has, but Kerry's intent is clear. Overall, he wants to put in place a concrete exit strategy. Bush has no exit strategy. If truth was to be told, I'd bet my left nut that Bush and the neocons have a plan to keep troops in Iraq for the next decade or longer.

Once Kerry has the same type of military intelligence that Bush has, then he can form a more coherent strategy for getting them out...and I'm all for that.

The Arabs have proven one thing to the world, they are unrulable by a non-Muslim, foreign nation. In addition, they have proven that they would prefer to throw away all hopes for a better life than to be given that better life by an infidel nation.

It pains me to say it, but we need to cut our losses and get out. Then we need to make it abundantly clear that whenever we are attacked, the Middle East can expect that we'll come back and take out another country. Revenge is what the Arabs do understand. So we need to leave them with the lasting impression that when we get attacked, they will suffer 10 times worse than they give. Occupation, however, just breeds more long term trouble. So we need to stay away from that.
