I just emailed the Boston CBS affiliate and asked if they had any comment on the "fake, but accurate" defense being offered by Dan Rather & 60 Minutes. I repeated Taranto's question: it seems fair to ask, is "fake, but accurate" going to be a general news standard from now on, or does it only apply to stories that embarrass President Bush?

I asked them to comment, as a CBS affiliate who had their own newsroom to think about. I'll let you know if they respond.
