You seem to be confusing proportional space and kerning. The definitions for kerning use YA, WA and others for a reason. Note how on this board the lower part of the 'A' is under the top part of the 'Y'. Same with the 'W' and 'A'. It can be done with some lowercase character pairs, but the difference is less extreme. That is kerning as it was traditionally defined. There is also the term "positve kerning" that includes adding a little space between character pairs like 'll' when there aren't serifs.

Kerning doesn't have a lot to do with the documents, they don't exhibit kerning. As I pointed out, the 'CYA' in the CYA memo isn't kerned. Why would the 'th' be kerned, per that expert's claim, and the 'YA' not? Makes no sense. If kerning was on, that would have been kerned unless it was specifically over-ridden.

The only reason for being pedantic on the issue is that all of the 'experts' who claim the documents were forged based on the physical evidence make nitwit statements like that. Sure, they may get paid big bucks for their testimony, but it just goes to show you how "expert" some of these expert witnesses are. Keep that in mind for the future.

And no, I have never made the claim the documents are genuine. I am just pointing out that the physical evidence doesn't support them being forgeries, despite the cutesy animations and so-called "experts". There is much more solid ground to challenge them on the internals. Like the terminology and questioning whether or not Killian would have written the CYA memo.
