Bush and Cheney are foolishly unconcerned about the mounting debts and the national deficit because they keep on labouring under the delusion that the US will soon be debt-free when the US get to control, manage and sell Iraqi oil (and other oil elsewhere to be secured by the US, sooner or later).

No wonder they rushed to war in Iraq, and Cheney said that the current mounting debt&deficit doesn't matter when he was questioned about it. No wonder Blair also rushed to war. Blair knows that once the UK's Northsea oil is gone, the economy of the UK will nosedive. No wonder he was very gungho in teaming up with Bush and Cheney.

By the way, when the Brits were colonial masters of Iraq from the 1920s on to about the mid 1940s, they arbitrarily carved out from Iraq a tiny kingdom and called it Kuwait. In spite of this act, the Brits managed to get the Sunnis and Shi'ites to coexist with them. That says a lot about British diploma in that bygone era. By contrast, today, Americans in particular are vilified, hated and murdered and killed in Iraq on a daily basis. For them the flowers and hugs and welcome carpets proved to have been mythical!

To be sure, the US is now between the devil and the deep blue sea: it will be damned if it pulls out of Iraq as this will embolden the Jihadists; it will also be damned if it does not. Worse, if the US does not withdraw, it might slowly bleed itself to become a "has-been".
