You missed the point, Scott. The point I was making was about allegations of illegality. It is against the law for private citizens to engage in diplomacy with foreign governments. [But it seems that the exact same charge could have been leveled against candidate Reagan (& or several members of his staff) for the contacts they had with Iran in 1979....]
