Police forces waste so much money on toys its not funny anymore. The use of machine guns by criminals in a violent crime is so rare that no police force needs machine guns. As far as assault weapons go, violent crimes being with them is nearly as remote, at a fraction of a percent. An assault weapon isn't a machine gun, never was, never is, never will be. Assault weapon is a term the legislatures actually invented and its based purely on cosmetics, not rounds per minute.
