I didn't write the thing you're quoting, that was Thomas P.M. Barnett, the guy who works for the Navy and wrote "The Pentagon's New Map." Who is, by the way, a Democrat and is voting for Kerry.

There were many, many reasons given for the Iraq war. One of them were WMDs. Turns out that we haven't been able to find WMDs but we have found out that Saddam wanted WMDs.

Should we have waited until he got them? No.

Many, including Kerry, argue that sanctions were working. Barnett points out that sanctions were not working, because the human cost was too high.

When assessing the effectiveness of a policy, you have to assess ALL the data. The deaths of Iraqi children were unintended but real.

I wish SI search function worked, I'd love to find my list of reasons for the war that I wrote PRIOR to the war. It was quite lengthy.
