Alan, somebody has to beg, borrow, steal or buy (in the last resort) a copy of each of these books, otherwise how are we going to rip them up on the thread? Around here, if you ask the library to order a book, you can get first in line to take it out. There are a number of books coming, I understand, eh? The Diane Francis one will read like a novel, guaranteed, that's her style. It may not tell us anything we don't know, it's pretty early yet.
There are still books, and good useful thorough books, being written about the First World War, and of course the Second as well. It takes time for details to come out, and for time to develop an objective perspective on history. The later works often make the early ones look both stupid and incomplete, which of course they are, they are put out to capture a hot market, imho.....
If John Felderhof writes his side of the story, I plan to do him the honour of stealing a copy. Only for a Michael de Guzman autobiography would I pay cash, but no more than the current market value of a share of Bre-X........;-).......marcos
Btw, alan, I meant to congratulate you on the anniversary of the thread (July 13th) but forgot all about it.......next year for sure...<g>... |
