Carl and Addressees:

I've been pretty critical of the Kerry camp lately, and this only once again
shows good reason.

Again today, I made several attempts to get through, but they don't seem to
take calls from Texas area codes.

Certainly this is a travesty. In my part of the country, I've never - and I
mean never seen the level of grassroots organization and effort that we are
seeing today. There are numerous signs that there is a groundswell of anti_bush

effort - but the problem is that that has not been converted well into Pro
Kerry effortr, and again this is an another example why.

We fight on in spite of one of the worst run campaigns I've seen in my
lifetime, because we simply don't have a choice. It's disheartening when you
have a
race that actually could be a shoe -in but as the Los Angelos Time survey
indicates, only 20 someodd percent of the people in the electorate like either
of
the candidates or the campaigns.

While some of us pine for the return of Bill CLinton, that's not the real
answer. Many of us have risked everything on this election. And the
disappointment is deep and difficult to manage.

But we fight on, inspite of incompetance at the top.

The truth probably is that many of the insiders simply didn't think to chekc
someone out in Texas. Does that mean they won't check out those that submit
themselves for key positions, as well. That's what we all think.

But in spite of this incompetance, we move on.

Since 1998, I've commented that we Democratic Leaders were the ones who bear
the blame for Democratic defeats. And over the past year, we;ve made great
strides to try to correct those problems in Texas. We're not there yet, but we
are on our way. But we still can't get the DNC to understand that America is
more than 16 states; or more than one color. They think small.

And yet, in spite of this we fight on.
