No, we don't and we don't want one. If we did want one, we would have collected one after WWII. We have an hegemony and a sphere of influence. Not quite the same.

If we had had an empire, we would have had institutional memories of a Colonial Office, and probably would have avoided a few mistakes in Iraq. Ah, the ironies of history.
