"In the literal sense", Diane Kerry lives in Surrey, and teaches in Vancouver. That is what I last remember reading about her anyway. "If she knows so much about politics, why doesn't she vote" makes more sense than "If she knows so much about politics, why doesn't she live in US" (?), which is why I thought the emphasis was on the "vote". Living within the physical boundaries of one's country was not a prerequisite for love for or being interested in their homeland and its "politics" the last I checked. If the "POV" questioning this is "abundantly clear" to you, maybe you would like to explain to the rest of us. Don't forget to mention US ambassadors around the world, US soldiers stationed in various bases around the world for years on end, and corporate US personnel sent abroad for a company and how this "abundantly clear POV" proves them either unpatriotic and/or incapable/unworthy of holding an opinion on US politics.
