A country living under foreign military occupation cannot be called free. The country might not be free but the individuals within the country can be much freer then they were before, depending on the nature both of the occupation and the previous government. Also the character of the US presence in Iraq is less of an occupation than it used to be. The US was an occupier in Germany for some years, but we had a large army there for many more. The difference between the two states was that past a certain point the country wasn't under US military rule. Iraq is no longer formally under US military rule. Iraqis are fighting for their freedom Most of those fighting the US are fighting against freedom. Tim
