Hi Sam; Re: "Carl, I still don't have a clue why you think this. [i.e. that Bush has learned the limitations of US military power] Because of a Bob Novak column? ..."

No, I've been saying that Bush learned his lesson in Iraq since about a year ago.

The whole Neocon premise of the invasion of Iraq was that it could be done with a very small force at very low cost, that the locals would welcome us, that the rest of the world would worship us, and that the oil would pay for it.

The abandonment of the Neocon war is best shown by the failure of the Bush administration to greatly expand the US military. Iran is much larger than Iraq. We're not going to mess with Iran while our military is so badly pressed in Iraq.

Re: "Novak who has always been against this war and will write anything to get us out of it?"

Do you have any evidence that Novak will "write anything to get us out of the Iraq war?" I'd appreciate links. Is he saying this on TV or radio? I don't listen to him so I'm unaware of what he's saying but as far as what he's writing, I haven't seen calls for an early withdrawal.
