Sapiens has a product called Falcon. This is a highly intelligent sophisticated code converter/translator from traditional mainframe assembly to C. This product was written mainly to provide a mechanism for a smooth transition of old legacy IBM mainframe software applications to a client-serve architecture (on UNIX platforms - Sun, HP, IBM, SGI, etc.). The marketing and sales at SPNSF finally listened to R&D that the potentials of Falcon goes beyond just a conversion of old legacy mainframe code to one that is based on a client-server model. Y2K is one of them where the underlying code is translated into C and then Sapiens consultants/engineers make the y2K changes to the C translated code. Thus as Sapiens not only provides a Y2K solution but also provides a client-server solution to those that are otherwise traditional mainframe software.

The Y2K solution has now evolved into a kit where Sapiens now has a separate line of product for Y2K problem (not only for the old legacy software but also for the already existing client-server software that already runs in a client-server architecture), thus opening a whole new area of revenue growth for its business. They have executed this business model brilliantly in my opinion. Here is an earlier post I did back in February of this year that you may find interesting:

Anyway, I believe Sapiens marketing and sales after going through a pretty rough 3 years have learned great lessons of their past mistakes for not listening to the R&D and now the company is on the edge of a global explosive growth not only in the Y2K market but in client-server as well as software componization markets. Sapiens at this time is only viewed as a Y2K solution provider which has caused so much excitement in the stock. But I believe in my opinion the best has not yet even to begin since Y2K is only one area that the company will be enjoying an explosive revenue growth, in my humble opinion of course.
