<Most of those fighting the US are fighting against freedom.>

This assertion is simply that -- an assertion on your part. It is a convenient assumption. It is a self-serving assumption. But the depth and breadth of the resistance to our occupation suggest that it is an incorrect assumption. We alienated the Iraqis by attempting to force our system down their throats -- at their expense. We brought the Iraqis lawlessness, chaos, a complete breakdown of public services, unemployment. We failed to provide them what they wanted -- peace, order and good government. We gave them free market slogans and political soundbites about "freedom" -- and all they could see was a country falling into ruin under our watch. Now they are fighting back and want us gone. It is freedom from us they want -- freedom to decide for themselves. Freedom to do whatever is next for them.
