Pat - The word is greed! The fast buck. Relative fortunes were made and lost today. Think of the magnitude of the gains on large stocks and the time value of money.

I hate to be a wet blanket and I just loved this post. The Amati B/D must be reasonable, because I have seen many wonderful offers refused only to settle for much less one year later. Right now H&R Block may get 1/2 of what they asked for Compuserve, when better offers were outstanding. You can't go back and predict stock based upon 52 week highs. The best senario for Amati and the stockholders now is to get contracts and then entertain all offers. If the giants want you they will meet your price or crush you if they want your market. it's as simple as that.

When reputable people like yourself can throw a knock-out purch to these fast buck clowns and ruin their careers, I am so proud. they get away with white collar murder.

I can predict the calls to the lawyers now.

Pat, your pretty tough for a non-city kid!
