These news folks and the pollsters want o keep the interest high so that they can continue to make money. If they came out and said flat that the elections are over, then people would loose interest. So they bump up Bush's numbers. Majority of the people who would like a Kerry victory, have their interest roused as a result. So they keep following the polls. Now Kerry is turning those poll numbers around and eventually the pollsters will call the election for Kerry, a week before the polls.
