The race is basically tied, with a slight advantage to Bush, going into the debates. Though both campaigns are worried, most troubling to Bush is his inability to crack the 47-48% threshold needed to be truly ahead. Undecideds this late in the game usually break to the challenger as they have already decided they dont like who's already in office.

Also troubling to Bush should be that part of his support is from people who so far believe lies from Bush and his cronies, including the SmearVet lies. Those lies can be exposed, thereby freeing those voters from delusion.
