The situation in Iraq reminds me of history books depiction of life in Chicago and other mob controlled cities during Prohibition. When the gangsters were not busy killing each other, they were blowing up police stations. There were cops on the take, and the honest ones were being killed. Recruits were being intimidated. Innocent people were being kidnapped for ransom. Sometimes innocent people were killed to send some sick message. The evil in Iraq is being increased because the evildoers believe that some traitors will step up to the plate to try to duplicate the performance of Kerry and his pals in undermining a victory. The economic profligacy being bestowed upon us by the Congress is out of control. Bush refuses to veto most spending bills after they are loaded up with pork. He SHARES the blame with Congress for the excessive growth of government. The rate of growth of the budget is out of control. Maybe a Democrat Congress and President would be more restrained. It seems unlikely. I hope you will join me in repudiating the tax and spend crowd. I would support a candidate who offered a real chance to restrain spending.
