Another theory on higher die temperature, from Paul at iHub:

Is that correct? 90nm die is 58% smaller, so if the same power is being dissipated through it, with a similar heatsink and interface, is the steady-state temperature higher? Wouldn't it have to be, since the area is smaller, assuming the same amount of heat is flowing across into a heatsink in the same ambient temps?
