I knew a few people who served in 'Nam. They would tell stories about taking prisoners up in helicopters and pushing them out, among other things. One friend told me an old Vietnamese man offered him and his buddies poisoned Coke - the kind you drink. They realized by the man's behavior something was wrong...didn't drink it. The telling part of his story was, "we'd seen enough killing for the day, so we shook our fingers at him and walked away." People can pretend that soldiers came into villages with food and hugs and clothes, but the reality is, something bad was always going on. Plenty of soldiers who'd seen friends killed wanted revenge and retaliated against innocents. It was not pretty, nor kind, nor fair. It was hell, and Bush has brought us back to hell with a vengeance.
