Re: imagine how much faster it would run on Opteron-based equipment. Probably 25% to 33% faster if they'd gone with Opteron 244s instead of Xeon 3.06. Quite a bit more than that if they'd used Opteron 250s (and the faster memory the 250s support). I'm a bit stunned that anyone who has read the information made available on these boards would go with Xeon 3.06. Given that anyone who has been reading these boards would have to be aware of the better security from execution protection and the inherent upgradability of the 64-bit capable Opteron. Why'd you do it, Bob? Was there no alternative available from your hosting site? Or was there an unfortunate accident involving your skull and its contents when you were a child? :-) Shocked patrons of your site want to know...
