At the risk of poking at the embers more, I'm leaning VERY strongly toward making portfolio retrieval available only to premium members (level 10 and up).

The fact that most of the vitriol about portfolios (despite our warning of this more than 3 months ago) is coming from free members and that the overwhelming majority of portfolios are held by free members makes me very disinclined to jump through these kinds of hoops for them.

Yeah, it may be petty, but I'm just not a big fan of having a large group of people come by and bit-slap us so severely for the loss of something they were getting for free, making no contributions at all to our community, and all this despite our best attempts to let them know in advance.

By all means, let's get the Level 10's and higher their portfolios quickly so they can transfer them elsewhere. We owe them that for being supporters of the site, even if they didn't see our earlier warnings.

The others? Nah. Not worth it financially or workwise. You'll just do all that work for 'em, and they'll flip you the bird as they head out the door with the prize you worked so hard to give 'em.
