| | First, let me say, I've been a member of SI since July, 1996. I've valued this site for these reasons: 1) easy, simple, slick portfolio tool 2) quotes, graphing, content 3) threads, though decreasingly of value, given the crap most people post here.
Second, I missed the entire discussion and all notifications of changes to SI. Frankly, that's probably an artifact of my pattern of usage. I'm not blaming anyone for my ignorance, but it ought to be a clear indicator to folks like Mr. Daniel, that your communications plan for these changes isn't reaching 100% of the desired audience.
Third, I'm probably in Mr. Daniel's distained group of free-loaders. It's not that I'm unwilling to be a paid subscriber, again, and honestly, I haven't been approached in a manner that has reached me, with an offer that I could respond to.
So, I want and need my portfolio back. I'll pay, apparently at the barrel of Mr. Daniel's gun.
I think the kind of users we all want in this "community" are willing to help support the service. Mr. Daniel and others shouldn't just assume, though, that we're all welfare-cheats.
Also, guys, I can't stop myself, it needs to be said: this ain't about the bits used to provide the service...it's about the service you're providing...and what we use that service to do...MAKE MONEY.
Messages: 1) Re-enable portfolios 2) Redouble your communication efforts. Communication is the responsibility of the sender, not the recipient 3) The customer isn't always a schmuck 4) Give customers easy ways to be customers 5) Rethink what you do...it's not a collaborative messaging center with a bunch of tools backed by a database... it's a financial management service
I sincerely do love what you guys do. I regret that the path to the new SI has been so difficult, but I'm in it for the long haul, with you, and hope that you feel as valued by the group at large, as I value you. Now, can I have my portfolio back? ;) |
