Although most of the of the corpses in the mass graves dated to 1988 - 1991, there have been recent mass graves found also

1988-1991. That was when he was our guy and we didn't have any problem with his mass executions. We even covered for him with the UN. Then there was the time the US and Britain set up the Shia to get slaughtered after the Gulf War. Was that precious or what? Sending the Shia into the hands of Saddam, a well known mass murderer while we watched. I wonder if Bush Sr., Cheney and Rumsfeld munched on popcorn while they watched the slaughter.

Recent mass graves. From the link you provided it sounded like they were primarily army deserters. I think more than half of the conservatives on this thread would execute deserters in time of war without batting an eye.

But you probably know that the US doesn't count on NGOs for their stinking assessments. We have the CIA to provide us the best intelligence available. That's what Bush acts on....the best intelligence available. Fortunately, we have at our fingertips what the CIA estimated the mortality rate in Iraq for 2002. The 2002 data is available at: os-connect.com where you'll find that the mortality rate for Iraq is lower than that of the US.

It wasn't quite clear how you came up with the 5-10,000 per year. I didn't see that in the text. But in any event, I've seen estimates for Iraqis killed by US Forces ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 for an 18 month period. So we still beat Saddam.

As one Iraqi said: ~We had hidden mass graves under Saddam and now we have open mass graves.

Look on the "bright" side, I've seen a number of conservatives say that all the Arabs want to exterminate Israel. So between Saddam and the US, we gotten rid of quite a few of them.
