Iraq is a war we didn't even have to fight. The neocons in the Bush admin. created the Office of Special Plans, to sift through all the intel on Iraq and select the intel that supported going to war. In other words, POLITICAL intel, not fact-based intel. Bush used THAT to drive the nation to war, using WMD as a reason. It's since mutated to "WMD related progarm activites" and the "free the Iraqi people" and after we caught Saddam to "establish democracy in Iraq" - I don't KNOW what next month's reason will be..
The Iraqis don't want us in Iraq, any more than we'd want Iraqi invaders HERE. Every Iraqi we kill, insurgent or not ( MANY are just folks) breeds at least 5 more pissed off family members or friends. Of these 2 join the guerillas. So, we aren't going to win with the military. We're not going to kill 50 million Iraqis. When we finally leave, the Iraqis will have their civil war. Until then, WE'RE the enemy. It's a no win scenario. If Bush put a government in, the Iraqis won't trust or believe in it - I wouldn't. Would YOU trust a government the Iraqis set up HERE?
