He could be right. He could be wrong. Who the heck knows what would happen if we just picked up and left this week? Would we even be able to leave, to pull out not just people but equipment, munitions, supplies? Would Iraqis cheer this or want to leave with us (they have been leaving or sending their families out anyway)? Bush definitely would not leave because it would be seen by everyone as a catastrophic personal and policy failure. Besides, even with his recent lying about leaving in the future, he will not leave the oil companies there without protection. This is a war for oil and nothing will dissuade Bush from getting the oil.
