Hi Kastel Co,
That's true and we keep score in Can $ so when a trust goes up by 10% that's 10%. But as the Can $ goes up in US $ terms they see a gain of 11 or 12%. So a rush into trusts by US investors seems inevitable. Ameritrade will buy stocks or units on the Toronto stock exchange directly, so pink sheet investment is unnecessary.
At some time or other I think most of the trusts would well be exchanged for larger companies such as CNQ,STO,etc. US people will pay a lot more for the former than for the latter.
