Depends on where you live, it may not cost much. My cousin in LA went to airport to see someone off, and hit by a car which was backing out (the driver did not look backward at all), and one of his leg got fracture. So my cousin took him to the court since he had no insurance. And after 12 months of ordeal, my cousin got $6000 but 60% or so belongs to the lawyer, so the leftover did NOT even cover his medical bill (he had no job at that time)
