Reading studies have shown that sticking to about 10-12 words per line increases readability, reduces eye strain. That's why you don't see many books that are 2 feet wide with 30 words per line. I would draw on the 500 years of experience that the publishing industry has with this before reinventing the wheel.

I think that's the main reason I find this new format uncomfortable to use.
