I have Windows XP Pro for the laptop, and I like it. No more "blue screen of death." Also, it's "idiot proof."

Chris's computer and my old office computer are Windows 98 SE machines, but they do still work fine for surfing the net and running Quickbooks 6.0 and WordPerfect. Just not as blazing fast as the laptop.

Was just transferring data between computers via a new cute little flash memory stick, 512K no bigger than a lipstick - physical transfer is the down side of not being networked - and had to download new drivers for the Windows 98 SE computers, but they still worked just fine.

Amazing how fast it is once the drivers are installed. Much faster than diskettes, and holds as much as 400 diskettes. Good for the old computers that don't have a CD-RW drive. Those have a ZIP disk. So to share data, I am using the flash stick.

I COULD network, but worry about hacking.
