I'm not a PhD nor do I even have an associate's degree.

I'm self-taught, and did this whole thing largely alone, including learning Solaris, Oracle (both extremely foreign to me) and ASP.NET along the way. And this is something on a scale most other applications never approach in terms of the size of the dataset being used.

It's really a damned if you do, damned if you don't thing. If I'd waited longer and added more features beforehand that could've proven to not work right or worse, and the old Oracle system suffered another catastrophic failure in the meantime, people would be complaining that I didn't move us to this system when it appeared to be more stable than the old system.

Those who think the other version was manna from heaven don't remember the several outages we'd had on it, including a large one we were really worried was going to be the end of Silicon Investor.
