I think a year or two ago I already expressed to Henry the following consideration: Why now? Why is it that all those infinite numbers of viruses haven't killed us all until now, even though they had an infinite number of opportunities to recombine and to do so?

I know that there is more people nowadays, living closer together, that there is more travel, trade, etc. But - our planet has been a pretty small place already for quite a few (human) generations. Therefore, I figure, if we were so lucky up until now, the odds must be good that our luck may continue....

Does this make any sense?
