Most religions, in the extreme, seem to have a process that if you genuflect in a certain way, confess, say "I'm sorry," and say a certain number of prayers in a certain way, then forgiveness is deemed granted, at least in the interpretation of the "sinner." It's an easy way "out." It's a lot easier to spout verse than it is to love one's neighbor and to act and speak with kindness. This it not to denigrate anyone's religion. In fact, most religions also have "enlightened" thinkers who feel that righteous acts outweigh failure in strict following of tradition or memorization and recital of prayers and verse.
