this is similar to the TV-on-demand that you get in a hotel room; 30 different rooms may order the same video feed but at different times so that all 30 are running simultaneously although in 30 different locations of the video. It's as if there are 30 TiVos running, as the analogy indicates. The difference between the hotel server and the application noted in the article is the scale-up of potential customers as well as the delivery over phone lines vs a coaxial cable (as in the hotel room) over much longer distances.
