As the price of Flash drops it would seem that Apple would be silly not to move from spinning media to Flash. If Apple can produce a $249 iPod mini with 4 gigs of flash why wouldn't they?

Well, you could make the case that they will be able to cram more and more GB's into the same miniHD....so they will probably be able to produce a $250 iPOD with 20GB.

The real issue is that Apple will never be able to produce a sub $150 iPOD with a miniHD. It would be a shame to waste all of the effort that they have put into their interface/styling by keeping it a niche product.

Of course, Apple might already be addressing this market through their effort with Motorola. We'll have to wait and see how much of the guts of the iPOD that Apple will allow Motorola to use in a handset. I've never used an iPOD but everybody seems to say that the interface beats the crap out of the competition.
