I just found that out last week myself...shocking. He's only in his early 50's. He did a PBS special that I ran across while channel surfing during an insomniac evening earlier this month.... the special was just so-so, and he didn't look good, sort of puffed out. It was taped last year, before his diagnosis. I went on the Web to see what he was up to lately and saw that notice that you posted. I had his first 5 albums on vinyl, didn't like the later stuff as much but Captured Angel is one of the better ones.

The newspaper articles that accompanied that press release in August, especially the one from his local Peoria paper, sounded a bit ominous. His mother was quoted as saying that he was travelling somewhere (Harvard, maybe) for some "experimental" treatment, and that the cancer had spread. There are some prostate cancers that you can live with for decades, but this didn't sound like one of them.
