OT: Do you think the bubble has entirely deflated?

I see discussions of Google, the stock, hitting new highs on the Wennerstrom thread and I have to wonder. Still some air in the balloon and not just in certain Internet related stocks imho.

Of course one of the best tactics we could take is to invest in the hottest sectors. You've made some good trades along those lines.

In early 2000 there were lots of hot sectors and fiber telcom anything was really hot. Holding NT, LU or especially CSCO had to feel like a safe bet compared to many other stocks in the group but looking back we can see the bigger picture.

Today I see many investors holding semiconductor and semiconductor equipment stocks which are supposedly better positioned to survive the next trough in the industry. I think it's true that as companies that most have trimmed down and still have plenty of cash to survive the lean times. But as stocks it's up to institutional investors to decide when a real bottom has been reached.

That may not happen until it is apparent that the economy has really found itself in need of stimulus again rather than what we are getting in the form of high energy costs, higher interest rates and soon enough higher taxes.
