And every once in a while we should try being in an opera. Was reading the local fishwrap yesterday and caught an item that mentioned the production of Aida by The Connecticut Opera Company was short a few extras. Didn't even give it a thought, I shot right down there. I thought there would be tryouts, like for a ballteam or something, but they took me right away. I get to carry a tusk across the stage! I was gonna get tickets, now I don't have to...

About halfway into the rehearsal last night the director and I began having creative differences. I thought we were stepping too quickly and needed to slow the pace to keep more in cadence with the music, but she didn't see it that way. She did respond positively to my other idea though. She had us carrying the tusks as if we were soldiers carrying rifles. I commented that tusks are heavy and maybe we should carry them as if we are hefting something. So now we are carrying them more horizontally and less vertically and we are using both hands. I will continue to offer my creative suggestions throughout the production. <g>
