I am in a minority and dont think the debates will necessarily be conclusive or if a draw guarantee kerry's defeat. The "hard" bush campaign against kerry has worked brilliantly so far, defining the election as a referendum on kerry, and not on the incumbant president as usually is the case. If Kerry can get on message (whatever that message is) even after the debate, 30 days or even 20 days or less is still enough time to redefine the race as a referendum on bush. That is why bush imo has to be prepared to be honest as hell from here on in regarding iraq. American people believe that either iraq is a quagmire or a mess. Most americans would say knowing what we know now, we would never have gone into iraq the way we did if at all. Bush has to, for lack of a better term, appease these voters who btw are republicans, and independents as well as democrats.
Karl Rove Hardball got bush thru 7 tough innings but Rove has thrown 120 pitches. Now its time to see how good the reliever is. And to leave Karl in to finish may be a fatal mistake. Take some responsiblity, speak the truth, talk about new appointments in his next admin--in short throw kerry a curve ball. Mike
