Mike

South Dakota Democratic Senator Tim Johnson had a son in the 101st Airborne Division who fought in Iraq in 2003. That is not much of a record for the Democrats either.

My real point is that we are involved in a highly contentious war in Iraq. The economic and political elite of this country are involved in the decisions to go to war but have no personal stake in the hard and cruel realities of fighting it. The war is instead fought by people without much of a future in the American economy, patriotic kids from dying small towns and inner-city "rabble".

The wealthy and well-connected...their big sacrifice is having to figure out what to do with yet another tax cut.

They would be demanding an end to Iraq NOW if it was their children at risk.

It is really kind of disgusting and points to the need for some kind of national service.
