He may be putting too much stock in the power of will, but he is determined to stay the course and prevail. The Administration has prepared people for half- a- loaf, that is, a government heading in the right direction, but not fully democratic, but it is not ready to throw in the towel about the direction of the evolution. And I think they are right. It is always, finally, a contest of wills. They persist because they think we will give up if they cause enough trouble. If, instead, they buy more trouble, that is discouraging. Eventually, we will prevail because the populace will actively turn on them, and give them up to us, or the Iraqi forces......... |
