nihil,

Re: " Most of the new fabs will be able to shift
from memory to logic rather simply ..."

This is a vast over simplification. The difficulties of integrating
a high performance FET (at low operating voltage), trench isolation,
salicide and interconnect will take any DRAM manufacturer at least
a couple years after starting. Currently .25um is in production and
.18um technology is about 2 yrs away. So for a DRAM Fab to make a
significant contribution, they need to start soon working to hit the
.15/.13um technology node.

Remember, you need to lead the target ... and Intel is a very fast target.

Make It So,
