Genl Patent Corp Intl Settles Patent Suit With IBM

MONSEY, N.Y. -- General Patent Corp. International settled its patent infringement suit against International Business Machines Corp.(IBM).

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

As reported on March 7, General Patent sued IBM and U.S. Robotics Corp., a 3Com Corp. (COMS) unit, alleging the two companies infringed on four of its patents that cover specific aspects of personal computer card modems and other communications devices.

In a press release Tuesday, General Patent said litigation is pending in New York in its suit against U.S. Robotics.

General Patent, a technology transfer company, said its suit against another seven modem manufacturers for allegedly infringing on the same patents is pending in California.

As reported, the seven modem manufacturers include Hayes Microcomputer Products Inc.'s Cardinal Technologies Inc.; Boca Research Inc. (BOCI); Xircom Inc. (XIRC); GVC Technologies; Archtek America Corp.; and New Media Corp.>>>
