"The US has a history of rallying behind a war once it has started. It doesn't mean Bush had over 50% approval to do what he did."

Ahh, so two days into the war is just "rallying behind a war once it has started"? OK, how 'bout the day before the war started?

On March 18, 2003, Gallup reported that Americans, by a 2:1 margin, supported the President's ultimatum to Saddam to leave the country within 48 hours or face invasion.

Still too close - the "eve of war" and all? How 'bout March 7-9, 2003, while we were still negotiating with France and the rest of the security council? According to CBS and the NY Times, 66% of Americans approved of the US using military force to remove Saddam. Interestingly, at the same time, 58% said the UN was doing a poor job of handling the situtaion with Iraq. Oh, and 55% said they approved of taking military action even without UN approval.

Still not convinced? Oh, well - I can lead you to water, but I can't make you drink.
