Just like millions of Eastern Europeans view the U.S. now. Had Mr. Regan given into the demands of your side those millions would still be behind the Iron Curtain.

Partisan gibberish........Reagan did nothing more than US presidents before him. After 40 years of the Cold War, the USSR happen to begin to breakdown on Reagan's watch. Forty years of poor economic management, an expensive empire to maintain, and a costly war in Afghanistan were the culprits, not Mr. Reagan.

Unfortunately your friends, the French and the Germans, have forgotten those sacrifices made by the Americans.

They haven't forgotten. Its you all who have forgotten why we made those sacrifices.

As the first generation immigrant to this country, I have grown to appreciate the values and opportunities the freedoms in this country has provided me over the last 30 years. It is disheartening to see that many on this and other boards take pleasure in bashing all the good this country is doing and all the sacrifices its citizens are making for the entire world.

This country does both good and bad. The bad takes away from the good. There is no reason to stay silent on this issue. any bad that can be prevented is a plus.

You forget a little known fact - that in the early 20th century there were fewer than 10 democratic nations in the world. At the end of the century there were over 120 - The U.S. has had more to do with this tranformation than any other nation in the world.

Its an honorable accomplishment and I hope its the wave of the future. And its important to note that this goal was achieved not by starting pre emptive wars. Its too bad you can not see the difference...........that may have to do with your first generation immigrant status.

You guys are pathetic. You do not appreciate your own country. Sad.

What's pathetic is your unwillingness to listen to the other side; to completely discredit it by calling us "pathetic". Maybe just maybe you don't know what the hell you are talking about but you don't have to consider that option because you have convinced yourselves that 'we' are "pathetic".

Well, dude, I am an intelligent, well educated, loyal American and I believe that Mr. Bush is taking my country to hell in a handbasket. And I will do what I can to prevent that from happening. Deal with it!
