We would have to set the parse flags on the original post insertion, and any subsequent changes during the edit window. Changing the actual shortcut would change the user's text during the edit window.

The work hasn't started on that, and tempted as I am to go in and parse the #reply and #subject references and expand them in readmsg and readmsgs, I'm keeping my hands off Bob's stack!
